Biology, Chemistry and Physics
with Mindfull Tutoring
We promote an in-depth understanding of scientific concepts in biology, chemistry and physics at Mindfull Tutoring.
Secondary Science
- Years 9 and 10
The junior science lessons presented at Mindfull Tutoring mirror the typical New Zealand science curriculum. As the order of topics tends to be flexible across schools, the focus will be placed on both the areas that require the most improvement and the topics being covered in class. We encourage students to bring class material along to lessons for support in work completion, and to expand on material to extend their scientific understanding.
In these lessons, students will further develop their understanding of the course material and develop learning skills. Such learning skills include the ability to recall, understand and apply scientific knowledge.
Secondary Science - Years 11-13
The senior science lessons presented at Mindfull Tutoring mirror the NCEA achievement standards while emphasising areas that require the most improvement for the individual learner. This is determined by input from both the tutor and the student. We encourage students to bring class material along to lessons for support in work completion, and to expand on material to extend their scientific understanding across topics.
In these lessons, students will develop a more intricate understanding of the course material, as well as develop specific skills and strategies for a given subject. This subject-specific knowledge is supported by general exam and study skills. Furthermore, students are encouraged to deepen their understanding of the connections between science and everyday life. This prompts the application of scientific knowledge and thinking to a range of contexts, including future workplaces.
Here at Mindfull Tutoring, we offer lessons in all NCEA standards within the three primary sciences. Tutoring is available for Biology and Chemistry through NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3. Physics tutoring is available at NCEA Level 1 and Level 2. The allocation of time to different internal achievement standards is flexible in order to ensure the programme is aligned with the relevant standards for each student at any given point in the year. Lessons prioritise content and assessment information relevant to the science standards taught in school and where the student needs the most support.
